Alex Discovers that his Uncle Actually Worked for MI6
After the funeral for Ian Rider has been held, and Alex finds out that his uncle was actually a spy for MI6. He learns where the headquarters are and the leaders of the agency. This event is important because it is the gateway into the rest of the novel and starts the plot.
Alex Prevents the Activation of the Stormbreakers
Alex has parachuted down on to the Science Museum. He draws his gun, and shoots the prime minister’s hand, the master control for the Stormbreakers, and Herod Sayle. He then escapes unseen and unharmed. This event is important because Alex has saves thousands of innocent schoolchildren.
Yassen Gregorovich Shoots Herod Sayle
Despite suffering from two bullet wounds, Herod Sayle has found Alex and brought him to the top of a building to kill him. But at the last second, Sayle is shot from a helicopter by Yassen Gregorovich. He jumps down and tells Alex that he was commanded by Sayle’s sponsors to shoot Sayle, because they were disappointed and embarrassed by his failed attempt. Yassen then gets back on the helicopter and disappears in to the distance. This event is important because this is the first time that Alex gets to talk face-to-face with the man who murdered his uncle. Herod Sayle, the villain in the novel, is also killed.
